I can’t stay away from the birds! This time I sketched this little Chaffinch (Bofink in Swedish, Buchfink in German).
I sketched him with pencil on a sheet of regular paper with text about Chaffinches. Colored him with watercolor pencils and a fine liner and white ink (Faber-Castell Art Pen & Uni-ball Signo Ink Pen -white).
I cut him out and almost mounted (glued! Happy GIT everyone who participates! :)) him on what will be a mail art piece (an index card, that I printed/painted with acrylic paint, doodled, stamped (recycled plastic packaging)). As I couldn’t decide if I liked the background for him, I played with the background color in Photoshop. I think I’ll add something underneath the bird in the paper collage, to make him more visible…
The first picture is the paper collage (I added some yellow and green to the background meanwhile) and the second is the digital collage.
Once the mail art is done, I’ll update the picture 🙂

Yes, exactly what I thought too (I think I’ll change my plan completely for the paper collage and make a new background – I guess that’s why I didn’t glue the bird yet ;))

I like the second one a lot. I think the dark blue background competes to much with the way to cute birdie, plus the sprinkling of leave is a nice touch, like he is enjoying the breeze!
